One drop at a time: research to advance the science of simulation.

چکیده
David A. Cook, MD, MHPE The article by Weinger1 in this issue describes a useful framework for thinking about research in simulation. It emphasizes the need for purposeful and programmatic accumulation of information to guide our use of simulation. The analogy with a drug is apt, albeit inexact, given the variations in dose (instructional design and intensity), dosing (repetition), disease (learning objectives), and drug-host, drugdrug, and drug-environment interactions (learner, other learning, and larger context), we encounter in the development of simulation activities. However, although this framework outlines information required to advance our understanding of how to use simulation, it does not spell out the research designs that will be required to accomplish this lofty but laudable objective. In this editorial, I will discuss the types of research needed to accrue the information Weinger requests.

The effect of micro/nano-particles on pressure drop in Oil pipeline: Simulation
A high pressure drop happens when heavy oil with high viscosity moves through the oil pipeline. A variety of methods to avoid this pressure drop is available. One of which is injection of chemicals to reduce the viscosity and ultimately reduce pressure drop. Using the pipesim software, the effect of dispersion of nano and micro-particles into the oil has been simulated to study the amount of th...
متن کاملA Statistical-Probabilistic Pattern for Determination of Tunnel Advance Step by Quantitative Risk Analysis
One of the main challenges faced in design and construction phases of tunneling projects is the determination of maximum allowable advance step to maximize excavation rate and reduce project delivery time. Considering the complexity of determining this factor and unexpected risks associated with inappropriate determination of that, it is necessary to employ a method which is capable of accounti...
متن کاملApplication of A Simulation Algorithm for Dynamic and Nonlinear Analysis of A Liquid Propellant Engine
In this paper application of a simulation algorithm for dynamic and nonlinear analysis of a specific liquid propellant engine is presented. The mathematical model of the engine includes a set of nonlinear algebraic equations which is coupled with a set of time varying differential equations. In contrast to the existing liquid propellant simulation algorithms, the presented work does not depend ...

متن کاملOptimization of two-stage production/inventory systems under order base stock policy with advance demand information
It is important to share demand information among the members in supply chains. In recent years, production and inventory systems with advance demand information (ADI) have been discussed, where advance demand information means the information of demand which the decision maker obtains before the corresponding actual demand arrives. Appropriate production and inventory control using demand info...
